In asteptarea conjunctiei planetare Jupiter-Saturn

Venus-Mercury Conjunction 21-22 May 2020

Thursday, May 21

The thin crescent of Venus was very well visible in the 7x50mm Fujinon binocular.
The  star Elnath /El Nath or Beta Tauri was visible to the East of the two planets .

When Mercury was going to set, it took a strange but spectacular  redish hue.

Friday ,May 22

On both ocasions, Mercury was well visible with naked eyes.
The thin crescent of Venus was again visible in the 7x50mm binocular , Friday evening.
Even more, I was able to see the Venusian crescent with my Keplerian 9x15mm singlet refractor.

Neptun-Phi Aqr Planetary Conjunction September 5 ,2019

I find out about a planetary conjunction involving Neptun and the star Phi Aquarii from Steven Rigdon ,member of the ''60mmtelescopeclub'' yahoo group.
I checked imediately in the ''Celestial Calendar for September'' by Dave Mitsky.
And yes,the conjunction was predicted also there.

I made also the folowing three simulations in Stellarium for the nights of September 4 and 5 and 6.

Stellarium simulation for September 4
Stellarium simulation for September 5
Stellarium simulation for September 6

My observations were made on September 4 and  5 ,using my home-made ''Ugly Duckling'' Dobsonian  of  125mm aperture @ F/6.9 using the magnification of 144x obtained with a Radian 6mm eyepiece.

''Ugly Duckling'' Dobsonian D=125mm F/6.9 with Beches mirror

On four of September I made a drawing while on fifth of September I took some pics using the aphocal method ,setting the Coolpix S3300 camera over the Seben 8-24mm zoom eyepiece.
The chosen focal length on the eyepiece was the lowest ,the 24mm.
Visualy ,on both ocasions, there were more stars visible in the same field with Neptun ,apart of  Phi Aqr.
The Coolpix was able to record only a 8,95 mv star aside Neptune and Phi Aqr.
Anyway, the image was very nice ,worth to remember !

This is the real thing,Neptun close to Phi Aqr ,recorded with my humble compact S3300 camera.

Now ,let be honest !
All the hassle to do this bit of AP is very anoying and boring for your truly !
To make me feel I didn't ruined an otherwise clear and good for observing night ,I had to take with the same gear pics of some of beloved double stars.
Here we go...

Lunar X and Lunar V ,crepuscular rays and planetary conjunctions

On June 20 I observed the ''Lunar X'' and ''Lunar V''  using my ''zoth'' 90x600mm refractor.

My ''zoth''  90x600 mm refractor

Visual observations were made at 60x/ Plossl 10mm  and 100x / BCO 6mm.
The pics were taken in the afocal mode at 60 x with the Coolpix S3300 camera.
This is my second ''LunarX-Lunar V'' observation of  this ''light and shadow'' show of the Moon.

On July 14 I was preparing this Summer wine.

Above , on the sky it were visible for a long while spectacular crepuscular rays.

On the evening of July 15 the planet Venus was close to the Moon while Lady Luna was in conjuction with the star Regulus.
The Ashen Light was well visible on the Moon.

On July 20 the Moon was in conjunction with the planet Jupiter.

All pics , excepting those of Lunar X- V , were taken with a Nikon Coolpix S3300 compact camera set on an all-metal old Velbon tripod.

Moon and the Southern Triumvirate

On 7 of September the Moon was  visible to the West-North West of the triangle formed by Saturn , Mars and Antares.
I recorded this pretty celestial landscape with the tripod mounted Coolpix S3300.

The show must go on ...and it goes on !
............................................................................................................

Update of 8 September 2016 :

This evening the Moon is really much closer to the so-called Triumvirate but the conjunction of Moon and Saturn didn't happen yet.

Update of  9 September 2016:

Setting the stage for tonight's show :

The light of the First Quarter Moon was reflected by the wavy waters of Mures River.

The Moon was to the North of  planet Mars when the pics were taken at about nine o'clock Local Time.

Some more pics with different settings  before saying ''goodbye'' to this Shallow Sky configuration.

This configurations were heralded by Sky&Telescope's
''This Week's Sky at a Glance'' and ''EarthSky News'' .Thank you !
